My Poem “American Princess”

Everybody has dreams when they are young
about who they want to be
and what they want to be when they are older…
everybody hopes and wishes to be happy in the future…
everybody has this perfect image in their mind
of who their perfect person is to them –
and to me the woman who I love is perfect
in every way and incomparable to anybody else,
because to me she is a princess,
and in my eyes she always will be
God’s gift to me and to the entire world.

Across a vast ocean, our eyes met for the first time…
over the vast distance between our two countries,
we first heard each others’ voice
and we first told one another that we loved each other…
I will never forget the moment
I first saw my American princess…
I will never forget how amazing, how magical,
and how incredible it felt when we touched each other
for the first time and we shared our first kiss…
I knew from the moment that I met my true soulmate
that I could never love another
and that we were meant to always be together.

Every day, people from all around the world,
who were born in different countries,
meet, become friends, and fall in love…
every day, people who come from different cultures
and who speak with different accents
find each other and instantly know
that they have found someone who lights up their life
like nobody else can, who they never want to live without…
every day, two people who are meant to be
have their unbreakable bond blessed…
every day, people find the one who for them
is like an angel from above…
every day, people feel things that they have never felt…
every day, people discover the meaning of their lives –
just as I did and just as I do over and over again
every day when I look into the eyes
of my gorgeous and beautiful American princess.

My Poem “American Dogs”

American dogs
of every size, breed,
fur length and fur colour…
American dogs of the countryside,
of the city, and of suburbia…
American dogs – wolves of the domestic era…
American dogs who grow up with,
who know, and who would
protect their owner
if they were ever in danger…
American dogs who have been
taught and treated in the right way
since they were a puppy
never forget who loves them,
nor where their home is…
American dogs are an important
part of the family
that they have been adopted into…
American dogs, like children,
love to be shown affection
by their adoptive parents…
American dogs adore their human parents
and they worship them
as if they were gods…
I have seen multiple times,
in multiple ways, face-to-face,
how truly loving, social,
thoughtful, and protective
some animals can be to their
family and their siblings –
and, in my opinion,
there is nothing like the love
that is shown and given freely
by an owner, which is then
reciprocated by
an American Dog.

My Poem ‘The American Precedent’

There is one country on Earth
that everybody looks to…
there is one way of life
that a great many people subscribe to…
there is one constitution
that is like a beacon of light,
hope, and freedom to the world…
there is something very special
that beats within the heart
of every American.

Every country needs a leader…
every country needs a states-person
and an ambassador of what it means
to be a member of a particular society…
every country needs someone
that they can look up to, and be guided by,
who allows their people to be
who they want to be,
and who empowers every kind of person:
from farmers to scientists,
from teachers to dreamers…
every country needs, every country deserves,
someone at the top of their government
who knows what equality for all truly means.

The freedom to express yourself,
the gift to be able to believe in yourself,
the privilege to be able to be an American citizen
is something that all American’s should be proud of…
that which draws eyes from all around the world
to the country of red, white, and blue,
and to their star-spangled banner,
is perhaps only something that can be seen
by an outside-observer looking in
who has been one of the lucky travelers
who have visited America over and over again.

To me, the United States of America
is not just an idea…
it is not just an experiment…
it is a place of unbelievable hope and beauty
whose people should never believe that to trump
fear you must build a wall around you –
in this day and age, in my opinion,
and with all due respect,
America needs a president for all…
for all who know that life
is about more than having the most dollars and cents…
and now is the time for all those who have a voice
that can be used to effect
the course of their country’s future –
because hope, respect, freedom and liberty for all,
are the most important precedents
that should always be championed and upheld
by every American citizen,
and by every American President.

My Poem ‘Me & My Shadow’

Everywhere I look
there they are;
whenever the sun is shining on me
there she is;
everywhere I go
you are with me –
no matter how near, or far,
whenever I close my eyes
I feel the kiss
of my shadow’s lips on my lips.

Whether I am in the bright of the day,
or whether I am standing
and looking down at my own reflection
in a pool of water;
whether I am at home,
or whether I am away,
I always see the most perfect
and beautiful vision
looking back at me,
and the angel that I always see
I know beyond any doubt is,
and will always be,
my forever happily ever-after.

My shadow, my best friend,
my here, my now, my everything,
for whom my love for
every day deepens,
is my constant thought,
memory, and dream,
and knowing that I am with her,
as she is always with me,
is what brings me unbounded happiness
the like that only those who have been witness
to two people in love will ever have seen.

I never want to lose my shadow;
if my shadow were to somehow get lost
and accidentally fly away like Peter Pan,
I would follow them no matter where they went;
I love my beautiful shadow
more than she will ever truly know;
when someone has a shadow like my shadow,
whenever they looked at them
they would know every second
that they were heaven sent.

Our shadows are extensions of us;
our shadows keep us surrounded,
and they are there for us
when we need them the most;
our shadows open our eyes to beauty
when our heads sometimes fall low;
I will always be the shadow of my soul-mate,
just as my soul-mate will always be my shadow.

My Poem ‘Tennessee Me’

The smells and the taste
of my favourite place;
the look and the touch
of my favourite
and the most beautiful face;
the feeling of warmth in the air
when I am there;
the instinct of holding
my angel’s hand,
as I run my fingers
through her beautiful hair…

Take me back there;
let the engines of a jet
transport me as fast as they can;
take me, please,
I wont put up any kind of a struggle –
in fact, I would gladly volunteer.
To be there always
with the one I love
is my life-long plan.

I miss walking over the state-line with ease;
I miss the feeling of being able to just be,
while constantly surrounded and embraced by love,
and what it feels like when two people
become one when they kiss
and wrap their arms around each-other in a hug;
I remember walking over the Tennessee River,
on the Walking Bridge, on a beautiful sunny day;
I remember getting down on one knee
and promising to want to spend
the rest of my life with the love of my life
in any and every way.

Since I have been back in England,
since I sat down again at my desk,
since I again slept in my old bed,
I must admit to feeling
like an adopted American
who has returned to his birthplace on a visit;
it is weird being here now,
especially when more than anything
I want to be back there;
it is like I have been
abducted and transported
to a far-away world-
and even though everything feels familiar,
I feel like I have to be
a different me than I want to be
while I am here.

Until you cross the line,
until you cross the river,
until you go somewhere
and you have the most amazing
and life-changing time,
only then can you see, feel,
and fill your entire life
with the gift of love
that the one you are meant to be with
has to give and has to offer;
until you follow your heart,
until you find the you you are meant to be,
until you know what it feels like
to be held by the one
who always makes you feel safe in their embrace
while you are sitting
and lying with one-another in the dark,
only then will you come close
to understanding what it feels like
to be the lucky in love with Melissa
Tennessee Me.

My Poem ‘Cherokee’

Every group of indigenous people,
from every country and continent
around the world –
within their history,
within their teachings,
lies a deep-seeded belief
and a connection with the world,
as well as a bridge to use
to understand the importance of life and death:
both the Aboriginal people of Australia
and the Native American Indians and their tribes
have always known that the planet that is our home
has a name, an identity, and a spirit all of its own,
and they have always seen and considered
the Earth that we all walk on
as if it were the skin of an astral being,
and that there are places that are sacred
and need to be protected – so that,
like so many places of natural beauty
that have been lost, there are places
that will always remain
as they are meant to be and unscarred.

There were no greater storytellers,
there were no greater warriors,
there were no greater teachers,
there were and there are no greater
people who remember their inspiring ancestors,
than the Native Indians of North America –
everything that I have been told,
and everything that I have learned,
has been a revelation to me –
and, to me and to lots of people,
I would point to my fascination with them
and to their amazing and timeless culture
as the source from which from every question
I have received an infinite number of answers.

Since the dawn of humanity,
since the moment when
the first of all of our ancestors began to believe
in what they could feel was out there,
but that which they could not see –
the many tribes and cultures that have risen
have believed in a greater divine higher-power
that seeks to communicate a meaning
and a way of life that can be discovered at any time –
even though it may sometimes appear hidden.

The traditions, totems, dreams, thoughts, emotions,
that indigenous cultures teach us to be mindful of –
the tribes that believe that the stars of the sky
are the eyes of our ancestors
watching over us from above;
mountains, monuments, deserts, valleys,
even to this day and always,
are places and trails to some people
who believe that there are some things
and some people who must never be forgotten;
spirit-guides, animal-guides,
are said to be all around us –
and when we dream, Native American people
teach that Earth and its people
share a constant dialogue of language
and inter-connected communication.

Everybody alive shares ties
with the first tribe
that made that first journey
and took those first epic steps
that to them must have felt
as if they were on a star trek
in search of who they were;
everybody of the modern world
shares traits with whom it was
who struggled to get us all
to where we are now –
even though the faces of those first people
have long-since disappeared into history,
in each of our cells and our DNA
there are important and integral lines
of their timeless poetry;
everybody at some time has felt a presence
with them in the dark;
everybody must never forget where we all came from,
and we must all never forget
that to understand what we do not know
about the life we all have, knowing who we is the key:
that is why I relate,
and that is why I subscribe in every way,
to the teachings and to the customs,
and to the insightful and the divine wisdom
of respect for all life of the Cherokee.
