He had been hurt... He had been cursed... He had learned the hard way that some things are not meant to last - but people who truly knew Him always believed and expected that He would one day make a comeback... He had felt turned inside-out... He had felt used and worn-out... He had been attacked on every side, He had been thought to have been defeated, He had been left wounded and scarred from His experiences - but the people who had thought Him easily destroyed always got a shock when He rose again like the sun and found a way to close the distances... some people would rather discount fate and mistakenly believe that life is all a series of coincidences, but His interactions had taught Him otherwise - which is why He always trusted His senses... He had been deceived... He had been non-believed... He had been thrown to the side like a piece of litter from a car window - but what some people do not know or realise is that He never forgets and He always remembers every thing and every face that He has been shown... He has spoken; He has listened... He has been broken; He has been awakened to the good and the bad of what others and He himself did... He has felt burned - physically, as well as in effigy; but, do you know what? He does not regret the fact that He has lived... He is many things - but one thing that He likes about himself, and what some people have said that they admire about Him, is that no matter what happens He will always be The Comeback Kid.

My Poem “Miraculous and Extraordinary”
All around the world,
today is the holy day of Easter Sunday…
today is the day which is remembered,
revered, and is considered remarkable by many,
because it is said that on the same day
two thousand years ago
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was resurrected
and is said to have ascended;
and Easter Sunday is also the day
when those in the Northern Hemisphere
celebrate the beginning of spring,
and for centuries people have
gathered together and feasted
in honour of the Germanic
goddess of the dawn Δostre –
and it is the symbols associated
with her worship where we get
our modern customs of owning rabbits
as well as the buying and the giving
of chocolate eggs to one another.
Today is an Easter and a Sunday
that many of us will remember
for many years, for many reasons –
just as people will always remember the Easter
that we all had to endure
at this same time last year,
when the vast majority of the population
of humanity had to start living
seemingly in bubbles of isolation
away from family, friends, and co-workers;
and a year on, the world is still trying
to find a way through to the other side
of this pandemonious world wide disaster –
but everywhere that I look
around the world there are
reasons to be hopeful and optimistic
that by this time next year
we will have found a way to adapt to,
get past, and resist the worst of
what is left of what we may
always have to live with.
Today is Easter Sunday
and to be honest I can think of
no better day to be truly grateful
for what each of us have
and who each of us have in our lives β
because each of us over the past year
have had to witness people
from all walks of life having to make
sacrifices
and changes to their life from which
there will never be a way back;
but what we never change for some people
is their ability to never stop believing
that with patience and time
the restrictions on livelihoods will end
and all people who are able
will once again be free β
and if there is anything that daily
impresses me about humanity it would have to be
how some people can keep going,
how some people can keep believing,
how some people can keep
keeping the faith, no matter what β
which, to me, is a supernatural power
that is both miraculous and extraordinary.

My Poem “All will never be lost”
A new burst of sunlight
enlightens my viewβ¦
a new year has arrived
that will herald the arrival
of something that will enable
the world to slowly become renewedβ¦
a new wave of possibility is beginning
to drift over and upon humanity
that will hopefully lead to us all
once again looking to an optimistic future
beyond the here and the now.
New additions to already established families
all around the world are being
welcomed with open arms
as symbols of hope of a new generation
who will be the beneficiaries of
what previous generations have
had to overcome, have had to adapt to,
and have had to discover along the way,
and a new constellation of distant
beacons of light will be what everybody
needs to fuel all the new ideas
and the new inventions that will
revolutionise how everybody
will stay connected to one another
as well as on another level of consciousness
with who and what once was.
A new dawn is the start of new verse
within the constantly evolving poem
and chronological story that is life –
so even though there may not have been
as many fireworks set off to end one year
and welcome in a brand new one this year
as there might have been in years gone by
there is always a reason to stay hopeful,
to look up, and to believe
that if everybody does their part
and continues to work hard at being
inspirational in their own way
all will never be lost.
Happy New Year! π

My Poem “The Kite Flyer”
Over time we learn more about the world,
we learn more about ourselves,
and more about how the biology,
the chemistry, and the physics
of the universe actually works –
by asking questions, by seeking connections,
by looking at our own reflection,
by making mistakes, by taking missteps,
by “going off the reservation”,
by doing things, by choosing things,
and by believing in things
beyond what we know that we need to grow,
but which can innitially seem
as ephemeral and as fleeting as snow,
and then slowly but surely
we build up within us memories,
experiences, recollections, and dreams
of a person, of a place, of a time
that can resonate like a beacon to guide us
and potentially save us in instances of twilight,
that we must hold on to and marvel at
like the stars but never let go of –
like a kite twisting and turning
against a blue sky on a day
when the force of the energy all around us
feels like it could easily
lift us off of the ground.
My Poem “Getting Ahead of Myself”
As a child, I always looked to the future…
as a child, when I imagined what would be,
I was always sure that things would turn out
like they were predicted to
in films and in television shows
that I watched which depicted
a world to come when anything
and everything was possible:
including vacations on the Moon,
underwater cities, and, of course, time-travel.
As a child, I was always hopeful
of a bright and inspirational tomorrow –
because looking immediately
for the positive of any situation
for me has always been in my nature…
as a child, I was like Luke Skywalker,
in the Star Wars movies:
always looking to the horizon
and always believing that anybody –
even someone as seemingly
bad as Darth Vader could be
redeemed and returned
from the dark side to the light.
As a child, fantasy worlds
drew me to them, because
what I saw and who I saw
had this magic to them
that had aspects to them
that were incredibly enthralling –
including: quests, adventures,
and other realities that seemed
wonderfully exciting.
As a child, real life was somewhere
where I interacted with my family,
where I hung out with my friends,
where I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner,
and where there wasn’t such things
as flying cars, teleporters,
jet-packs, and robots who
looked as human as anybody I knew –
but I knew that one day all those
things that the television showed me
would come true one day.
As an adult, when I look around
at the world of the present –
while simultaneously reflecting
back upon the past and at what I used
to believe would be a reality
when I was all grown-up –
there are times when I genuinely
have to ask myself,
in the words of Freddie Mercury:
“Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?”
As I have grown older
and as I have seen and experienced
even more of the world,
my instant impulse to imagine
possibilities before they happen
is still my immediate instinct –
and though there have indeed
been times in my life when my belief
that the world is innately hopeful
and optimistic has been tested,
I will never be convinced by
anything or by anybody
to stop reaching for that which
seemingly lies upon a higher shelf of life,
and I will never stop being someone
who naturally and occasionally
gets ahead of himself.
Happy Star Trek Day: “Live long and Prosper”
Happy Star Trek Day, everybody!
The first episode of Star Trek premiered 54 years ago today, on the 8th of September, 1966! Happy 54th Anniversary to one of my favourite TV shows and franchise’ – which to this day still remains a source of inspiration and hope and is a reminder to us all that if the human race works together we can accomplish anything: even journeying out into the final frontier, where no one has gone before! Live Long and Prosper, everyone! ππ
My Poem βMy Basic Instinctsβ
My basic instinct is to love:
to love Melissa, to love my family,
to love life and all the gifts
and wonders that it provides…
My first instinct is to be optimistic:
to focus on the positive,
to look at things in a way that feels poetic,
profound, and as inspiring
as the sight of fire-light…
My basic instinct is to the think
about people and about things
and be inspired by them:
moments when a single thought
grows into the many words of an idea
are golden and they are as energizing
as a bolt of lightning
from the mysterious and inviting sky
that I see above me –
whether at night when it is dark,
or when the sun shines bright
and intensifies an already
beautiful blue sky…
In any sense of the word,
I am not a genius of intellect –
however, what and who I am
is a dreamer, a writer
and an artist who seeks out
and who follows the trails of breadcrumbs
and footprints that are there to be found,
until I find myself back where I began…
and it is then that I realize again
who I am and what are my basic instincts.
My poem ‘World War-free’
Why can’t we be a world war-free?
Why can’t we all just all understand one-another,
live in peace, and be a united beacon of hope
and camaraderie for the rest of the galaxy?
Why can’t all the leaders of every country on Earth
see that constant conflict should not be
what puts the “human” in “humanity”?
Why can’t we all, please, for once in our long history,
just collectively put aside our differences
and want the reality of our children’s future
to be a world that is war-free?
The heart and the soul of humanity
is an endless well within which you can find
the truth to every mystery and the answer
to every question that anybody has ever searched for…
we are one race, of two sexes,
made up of a multitude of colours
and shades of personality and culture…
within the very DNA code of our biology
you can find the family-line
and the infinite branches of the family-tree
of which we are connected to
and have been since our Earth’s first dawn…
we can only fulfill our God-given destiny
and our birthright if we all first choose
to not look back on the problems of the past
and learn to stop reinforcing
the grudges of our ancestors,
and focus on building a bright and beautiful future.
I want now to be when I see a new hope for us all rise,
instead of the sight of missiles and rockets
flying through the air
and ultimately causing destruction and carnage in their wake…
I want now to be when somebody up there from heaven,
or outer-space, comes down to Earth and makes us all realize
what the fate of the entire world will be
if we arrive at the time when we need world-wide unity
and collaboration, but we are too late…
I want now to be when we are lead forwards, not backwards –
when we fulfill the hope of the one who had a dream,
and the one who died because he believed in that dream…
I want now to be when all problems
can be solved by words, not weapons…
I want now to be the first day of a new beginning for humanity
when we finally come to the world-wide realisation
that our only hope of survival can only become a reality
if we can learn to work together to make a world
for all to live in and enjoy that is war-free.
My Poem ‘Background Artist’
I am in the foreground of every landscape…
I am in the background of every picture…
I am in the orchestra that plays
the music of the spheres throughout interstellar-space…
I am interwoven into the language of the universe –
and yet too few ever see me…
not everyone knows how to look me in the eye…
not everyone can read the true meaning of my poetry…
no one knows what I have seen,
where I have been,
and what I have done already in my life.
There is only so much you can say with words…
there is only so many colours of a palette to paint with…
there is only so many moments in this world…
there is only so much you can give –
unless you know what to say and how to say it,
and you are in one of the places in the world
where language becomes as transformative as magic…
timing is everything – however,
if you know what, where, and how to say,
see, hear, and feel everything,
then you can realize anything into being.
A thing’s most defining feature lies just out of sight…
life’s most hidden mysteries
are only a blink away from being seen…
the content of a person’s heart and their soul
echoes around them and casts a shadow behind them
when they are standing in front of a bright light…
a dream can be a reality, just as reality can be a dream.
Doors rarely open for long…
opportunities sometimes only knock once…
bursts of inspiration can be so short…
time does not wait for us to catch up to it…
the world turns without pause –
but if we can find a place of peace and belonging
wherever we are, then we can never be lost…
there is something to be found, even in an empty room…
if we just learn to hold on to hope
and use what power and energy is has
then things have a way of jumping out at us,
like a baby deer running through a forest…
what you see is just one dimension of the whole…
just behind who and what you see,
I am standing there, looking, smiling,
imagining, writing, inspiring from afar…
I am constantly seen, and then missed –
but I am always where I am supposed to be,
doing what I was born to do:
an optimistic, poetic, omnipresent,
background artist.
