My Poem “The Fire-starters”

Everybody always remembers “The Fire-starters” –
the rebels, the ones who created their own path,
the ones who lived their life on the edge,
the truly unique, the individualistic,
the punks, the ground-breakers, the pioneers,
the ones who spoke their mind,
the ones whose heart beat to a different
rhythm than everyone else’s,
the artists, the ones with an inner voice
that hungered to be heard,
the prodigies, the impulsive, the unorthodox,
the ones who ventured to places
where angels sometimes fear to tread,
the ones who daily grappled with personal demons,
the ones who hoped to make a difference
by being themselves, by being different,
by exploring every avenue
of life that they could find,
the ones who walked a line,
the ones who wore black, white,
and every colour of the rainbow,
the radicals, the only one of their kind,
the ones who could have the deepest
and the most meaningful conversations
with anyone about every subject matter…
Our world would not be what we see
if it were not for those who understood
the power of change, music, madness,
love, revolution, redemption,
and the wave of rejuvenation
that you can experience through
a fit of laughter…
Our universe would not be what it is
without those who understand and realize
how important the gift of diversity is to all of us…
Our existence would not be what it is
and it would not be as tolerable to some people
if they could not be who they felt they should be,
who they feel they need to be,
who they are fated to be –
and some of the greatest minds,
the greatest teachers,
the greatest influences over humanity
throughout history,
have been what you could call
“Fire-starters”.

My Poem “Answers for Everything”

Getting back into
the swing of anything
is always hard, it’s always slow,
it’s always a work in progress,
especially in the beginning…
move to a new place,
filled with new people
who you do not yet know,
is always daunting…
getting used to a new way of doing things –
even when it involves a job
or an activity that you already know –
it can take you a while to get up to speed…
any time spent away from something
is time that you can’t make up for –
however, what you can choose to do
is to put your attention, your drive,
and your determination into learning
and perhaps re-learning something
that over time becomes second-nature,
releasing that intuitive gift
that has always been inside of you,
that has always been a part of you,
and letting your internal nature
and your internal voice speak…
I truly believe that some people
are meant to be who they are…
I truly believe that some people
are born with a particular destiny
and a path in life to follow
with particular things
that they are fated to achieve…
I truly believe that some people
are meant to be doctors, nurses, carers,
parents, artists, writers, fighters,
scientists, cafe owners, builders,
sculptures, truck drivers, cashiers,
messengers, movie theatre attendants –
because by doing what they do,
and while doing what they do,
they make a profound and fundamental
difference to the world that only they can…
I have always believed, ever since I was a child,
that I had a purpose, a meaning, a reason to be alive,
and to be someone and something
more than somebody with the depth to them
than that of a character from a dream…
I have always known, and I have always kept in my mind,
the fact of life that nobody in this world
is ever truly alone and that everybody
has a calling that fits perfectly into and with
whatever makes the universe what it is
and whatever the fundamental forces are
that govern the framework and the plan of existence
that was set into motion at the instant
of the universal big bang
and the answers to everything.

My Poem “Love Is Like Dynamite”

Love is like dynamite…
love is a sometimes indefinable
feeling, energy, purpose,
connection, sensation, perfection,
that everybody knows and instantly recognizes
when they experience it coming over them…
love is like nothing else…
love is like a flash of light
that guides your way, day after day,
and keeps you wide awake at night…
love is true magic…
love is the true meaning behind the universe…
love can never be foretold, nor predicted…
love is a blessing and should
never be considered a curse…
love can make people do many things…
love only gets stronger as you commit further
and you dive deeper into the ocean of feelings
that you can’t deny that you feel for another…
love needs to be expressed…
love is a question, an answer, a test,
a way for someone to show themselves at their best…
love is a gift… love is infinite…
love transcends sex, colour, cities, countries,
distance, language, and worlds…
love is more than a word,
love is more than a feeling –
love, in its purest form,
is about finding bliss, joy, heaven on Earth,
when you aren’t looking for it,
and realizing the fundamental truth of the universe:
that nobody is ever truly alone,
and there is somebody out there in the world
for everybody to share an unbreakable bond with
who gives everything that someone has always wanted.

My Poem “The Resolute”

It is always important
to have a purpose in life…
it is always important
to have a constant in your life…
it is always important
to have a tenacious idea in your mind…
it is always important
to begin every new day
as if it were the last sunrise of your life…
it is always important
to be open-minded to the needs
and the feelings of other people,
because sometimes the greatest gift
that you can give to anyone is to be kind.

Kindness costs nothing…
being cared for is a wonderful feeling…
loving someone is the best part of living…
giving your time to someone
who just wants to talk about
the memories that they have made
is like standing in the light of the sun
and witnessing the resurfacing
of an energy within someone
that is nothing but rejuvenating.

Every second of every minute
of every hour of every year
I remain hopeful and optimistic
about the future, about this world,
about humanity, and about myself –
because, to me, there is no other way to be…
resolutions come and resolutions go,
resolutions are made in good faith,
and sometimes resolutions have to be
left behind when the road of life gets rough.

As I have lived I have learned
that you have to adapt to unplanned circumstances
and go with the flow of energy
that you find yourself within,
especially when you believe
that you have nothing to lose…
resolutions are like dreams…
sometimes in this life
you have got to make the first move –
so, in this life, be bold, be spirited,
be unshakable, be dedicated, be resolute,
and there is no telling
where you will go and what you will do.

My Poem “Buona Fortuna”

When you see the sunlight
you have got to race towards it…
when a new opportunity to spread your wings arises
you have got to seize it…
when inspiration possesses you
you have got to do something amazing with it –
because each of us are here on this planet
for a reason and because each of us have a purpose…
when you see something that makes you smile,
or someone who makes your heart race,
that is an almost golden guarantee that you are
unapologetically in a state of love…
there is no such thing as a dead-end,
unless you want there to be…
there is no such thing as nothing left to see
and nothing else to know…
there is a new world to be discovered
every morning when you wake up…
there are always new sights, new sounds,
new tastes, new ground to be found
and experienced for the first time
that will change you – so what better time to do,
to explore, and to find another new part of you
than at the moment when you touch down
somewhere you have never been,
or somewhere that you know well
but are seeing again in a new light,
where and when you feel filled
with overflowing hope and infinite depths of good luck.

My Poem “Lotus”

The more that we ask ourselves
what we believe
the more that we learn
about ourselves
and about who or what our god
is and represents…
The more that we ask others
what they believe
and what and who sustains them
and gives meaning to their life
the more that we realise
who and what is important to us…
The more that we ask questions
about life, about existence, about creation,
about where we are going and why
the more that we appreciate what we have,
what makes us happy, what gives us hope,
what to us is a daily cherished present…
The more that we open our mind and our heart
to the possibilities that we had not considered before
the closer that we will be to attaining
a revitalised spirit and a purpose
that will allow us to rise above
all our troubles and float
in a state of complete and beautiful contentment
like a delicate white lotus.

My Poem ‘I live for him’

Our life has a meaning…
we live for a reason…
nothing can stop us
from fulfilling our destiny –
not even dying…
we should never stop hoping
and believing in the power
of god and heaven –
and there is no better example,
nor a more shining star
of a blessed and saved angel,
that I have ever heard of
than that of the story
of Isabella “Izzie” Cochran…

Izzie died, Izzie went to heaven –
Izzie was with Jesus the entire time,
and she was returned to life
and to the arms of her loving family,
because it was not her time
to live among the angels
and stay in the presence of the divine,
because she has a life-long purpose
to spread the word of the one
who watches over all of us,
and to be a reason for others
to believe in miracles.

Blessings can come as profound surprises…
prophecies can be played out
when you least expect them to be…
one person can bring together a world divided…
it is amazing who you can see
when you look into infinity
and a single star guides you
to the place and to the person
where and with whom you are meant to be.

There is only so much that can be written…
there is only so much that can be shared…
there is only so much that can be understood
about our reason to be here
on Earth as a child of heaven…
there is only so much in life that we can all take –
however, as the bible teaches us,
we are all only given that which we are able to bear.

It is incredibly inspiring,
it is spiritually reinvigorating,
it is a life-redefining reminder
to never stop believing,
it is beyond imagining
to have been given a gift
and to know with all your heart
that the love that binds
each and every-one throughout creation
is the reason why children are born,
why the world keeps turning,
why we are given what we are given,
and why the beautiful gift
who is Izabella “Izzie” Cochran
died and was brought back to life…
because her purpose –
that which Jesus told her
when she saw him
next to a white horse in heaven –
was to live and to live for him.

My Poem ‘We are all one’

Joy may come in the morning for you
in more ways than you might expect –
someone with a passion
and a drive and a love for what they do
cannot wait to jump out of bed,
while someone who feels like
they do not have a purpose in life
might open their eyes
and then close them again quickly
and cover themselves up again
below the covers
like a bird putting their wing
over them as they rest
comfortably in their nest –
however, the truth is
that everybody has a role in life,
everybody is meant to be alive,
and everybody is born to be
just as they are –
everybody is a necessary source of experience,
knowledge, instinct, inspiration,
heat and light, like a candle burning in the dark.

We all go through a metamorphosis;
we all go through an identity-crisis;
we all go through doors to places
we do not always know where;
we all go through stages of re-evaluating
what our priorities in life are,
just as we all sometimes struggle
to pick-out what we want to wear;
we are all a creation
and made in the same guise as the divine;
we are all here to be something to someone;
we are all blessed from birth
with the gift of infinite possibilities,
even if we are not given an endless life of time;
we are all of our time
and no matter how you see yourself,
or how somebody else sees you,
never forget that we are all reflections,
we are all human, we are all
resonators of change and emotion;
life is a lesson in accepting the undeniable fact
that we are all one.

My Poem ‘Living the dream’

Morning. Silence.
Blue sky. Sunday.
Sunshine. Green leaves.
The sound of flying birds and bees.
People having breakfast;
people cutting their lawn;
people still in bed
enjoying a well-earned rest;
people opening their eyes to the daylight;
people opening their mouths wide with a yawn.

Church bells ringing;
friends cycling;
music on the radio playing;
somebody somewhere
on the early morning ocean
sailing, loving, breathing, living.

Walkers, runners, riders,
painters, daydreamers, photographers,
embrace every moment of light and feeling;
diners, parishioners,
attend the same place of worship
and break bread together to prove
that they believe what they believe;
pilots, para-gliders,
balloonists, sky-divers
take to the air and defy gravity
and live the dream of touching the worlds ceiling –
people who just want to step away
from the rush of the world for a short time
and feel the amazing and the rejuvenating energy
of total and utter release.

People experiencing awe;
people feeling wonder;
people traveling far;
people feeling hunger.
I look at the world
and I see depths of colour;
I listen to what I hear,
and I hear sounds
from every length of the sound spectrum –
from water-drops in a pond
to the joyous explosion
of a child’s laughter.

Life is important;
life and purpose is individually indefinable,
and yet understandable, tangible,
as well as miraculously magical;
life can only be lived once;
life and dreams can sometimes be indistinguishable;
life is living and not worrying
about the things that people sometimes say
and the things that some people do;
life is reading, feeling, sharing,
and witnessing the dream of life come true.

My Poem ‘Cosmic Odyssey’

As I have lived, and experienced,
I have learned that you should never for a second
take a journey for granted;
as I have seen the world, as I have met people,
as I have sat in extraordinary, amazing,
wonderful, and inspiring places,
looking around, and taking in the world,
and all the details of where I am,
I have always believed that my being there,
that my being here right now,
is no accident, and why I am here means something,
or will mean something to me,
and the life that I am living, and a part of, on this planet.
I remember sitting in Central Park, on my favourite bench,
in the shadow of a statue immortalizing my favourite writer
William Shakespeare, and feeling free to breath
and capture this perfect moment in time,
and believing with all my heart and soul
that this was the place that I was supposed to be,
because this was the place that I belonged,
and if I could stay and never leave New York City,
I would all the days of my life be a happy man.

People go to different countries, see different things,
can travel to somewhere easily, and cheaply, these days,
and the cheapest expense that they will have to make
would have been the ticket and the price of an airfare;
people travel for work; people travel for pleasure;
people travel for the weather;
people travel because they are on a search;
people travel to see distant family,
and to show how much they care.

We are all on an odyssey;
we are all people of purpose;
we are all going somewhere defining;
we are all integral to someone else’s journey;
we are all people who live under a finite,
unbreakable, transcendent, curse;
we are all oracles, even though most of the time
we may not think that we are at all enlightening.

Some people are meant to make some journeys;
some people cannot be who they want to be,
but they will become the person
that they were always meant to be –
for better, or for worse –
because that is their destiny;
some people survive ordeals and wars;
however, in time, they will know and they will realize
the ground in which their roots are secure in and deep-rooted
is what makes them great, true, and as strong
as the tallest and the oldest of trees;
some people come to the realization early on in their life
that they are meant for something,
and are about, and a part of something,
older, greater, and more important than words could ever describe.
There are some people that have no idea
that they are a participant, that they belong,
that they are important, and along with everyone on Earth
they are on their own, as well as immutable in the infinite,
universal, cosmic odyssey.
