No one ever truly forgets
how to do something -
especially once someone has found
the required level of skill to be able
to repeatedly do the same thing
over and over again without thinking,
and when that happens some acts
become seemingly second nature and effortless…
some knowledge is taught by teachers and mentors,
while some knowledge is almost instinctive
and can feel as if has been acquired
after having been passed down
through some kind of genetic inheritance and memory…
some people take to some things so quickly
that it is immediately apparent that their connection
to something is harder to explain than usual,
because some people seem to have
a prodigy-like gift to be able to grasp
the concept of what something is
with such speed that their abilities
can dumbfound the mind of observers…
some people may take longer than others
to understand the mechanics of how something operates;
because some people are more practically minded,
while others are more theoretical in their approach -
which is why everyone who is seemingly
struggling with something should be encouraged
to never stop trying to make something
make sense to them and in such a way
that only they can see why something
means the way that it does…
some people are just not meant
to be able to do everything,
nor to be able to hear everything,
nor to be able to see everything,
nor to be able to understand everything
that other people might be able to -
and there is nothing wrong with that,
because everyone is different
and not every piece of knowledge
and information about how something is done
can easily be translated, transferred,
replicated, and evolved until it becomes
something innate and as natural as art;
however, when something “feels right”
and just seems so natural when you think about it
and whenever you engage in it,
everything that comes to you
like you have done it before -
even before you tried to do it -
can feel like you are reliving and reenacting
an experience that you could never forget even you tried,
like how people describe that
no one who ever learned something
could ever forget what they know:
because sometimes some things
are just “like riding a bike”.

A Journey Through Poetry #35: The Other Side Of The World
This episode is a part of Mark’s “A Journey Through Poetry” – a personal reflection of his life as a poet, a writer, and a author – in which he recites a different poem from every one of his poetry collections. In this episode Mark recites his poem ‘The Other Side Of The World’, from his poetry collection The Pathfinder, and he gives some insight and some context into why he was inspired to write this poem in particular.
I’ll Meet You At The Lighthouse – September 10, 2024

Hi, everyone!
So, I have another book coming out on September 10th, 2024, called “I’ll Meet You At The Lighthouse”.
This book and its story has been in the works for almost 10 years – in fact, this story, at least Chapter One, was the first short story I ever wrote. So, why did it take me almost 10 years to finish it? Well, because I thought I had finished it. However, after I returned to this story and its characters, I was compelled to follow the story to a new conclusion and destination that I had not anticipated before.
I will most likely go into further detail closer to the publication date as to what I’ll Meet You At The Lighthouse is about – but, for now, I wanted to share my new book’s synopsis and the link to where you can pre-order your copy of the ebook from Amazon.
Both the paperback and hardback versions will be available to order on September 10, 2024 – so watch this space for links to where you can purchase my book physically on Amazon in the coming weeks.
Synopsis:
“The story of two best friends and soulmates, whose love for one another is tested to its limits, and whose one of a kind connection ultimately takes them both on a journey to somewhere beyond the horizon. However, nothing and no one can stop them both from fulfilling their life-long promise to one another: to meet each other at The Lighthouse.”

My Poem “The Other Side of The World”
So many people are looking for a new beginning... so many people are in need of a direction... so many people wish that they had something in their lives that would give them a feeling of belonging... so many people have friends and family members who they love - but they know that what they want lies beyond what and where they have always known... so many people have felt this insatiable draw to get on a plane and jet off to somewhere over the horizon... so many people have this instinct that compels them to go somewhere they have never been before, because the place they are going to may feel so much like paradise it could easily be a place within a dream... so many people are just waiting for something or someone to give them the push they need to take a life-changing leap... so many people look around at their lives and they feel that they need more... so many people do not know that they have been imprisoned by something, someone, somewhere, for some time, until they are looking up at an unbroken blue sky and they know what it feels like to be truly free... so many people have chosen to do something profoundly special and adventurous in the pursuit of finding their life's purpose, and so many people have found themselves choosing to start a new life thousands of miles away from the country of their birth in places that lie far away on the other side of the world.
My Poem “Flight Mode”
Almost as soon as they break through the clouds, the passengers and the crew members of every aircraft immediately go into "Flight Mode" - during which most electronic devices do not receive, nor are supposed to transmit, any kind of radio signals other than those necessary to help the captain and the pilot know what it is that they need to know... almost as soon as a passenger jet has reached its optimal altitude is when the onboard experience of most modern commercial flights begin - including the enjoyment of whatever entertainment is available, as well as whatever food and drink there is to be ordered and consumed - and, before long, the time to your destination seems to fly by and so much so that you wonder where all the time goes. While flying anywhere in the world you can find yourself sitting in front, behind, and alongside people you may never have met before, and after your flight you may never see again... while flying anywhere in the world you can look out of the windows of the cockpit and find yourself flying over countries that might have their own distinct culture and language, but when seen from above it can be hard to differentiate one country and its people from another - because while in the air the world can look as if it is, as it should be seen as being, one and the same. Since the very beginning of intercontinental and international travel it has become increasingly easier for almost anybody to go anywhere in the world - especially since the ability to be able to book a flight and to go on holiday has become even more accessible and accepted than ever before - meaning that more people now than at any other time can choose to go anywhere and do anything that their heart desires and then return home with stories of places, people, and experiences that they have had, as well as with souvenirs of where they have been to share and to show... flying is such a normal activity for most people to be able to do in this day and age, that almost as soon as some people arrive from their getaway somewhere they are already looking in the direction of the departures lounge of the airport they have just flown into and can not wait to return to where they have been so that they can once again turn on their "Flight Mode."
