My Poem “Open to interpretation”

When a writer writes something,
that is just the beginning...
after a writer shares what they have written
and takes it beyond the limits
of their own eyes only,
that is when things truly get exciting...
when a writer first gets an idea
they never truly know
what it will ultimately come to be...
when a writer uses their gift
and naturally infuses a part of themselves
into whatever they have written or are writing
they always leave something
that they may not have planned
for their readers to read.

When a writer let's there words go
they can have no idea by whom, when,
nor where their art will be enjoyed -
and there is no knowing why, nor how,
their words will touch a reader
and inspire their dreams
as they lie asleep in bed...
when a writer first puts pen to paper,
or finger to key, they must resist
any and every thought that might occur to them
in which they might attempt to cross out,
erase, or delete something of them
that they felt had to be said.

When a writer creates something
of their own heart, mind, soul, and imagination
there is always an exchange of energy
that takes place that can cross
time and distance instantly...
even if the first intention of a writer
after a while becomes like that of a whisper,
the first spark of inspiration
that brought an idea to life
will always be there to be
felt, read, heard, seen,
and like the world of a dream
open to interpretation.

My Poem “Down Time”

What do you do when you
have not got anything to do?
Where do you go when you
have not got anywhere to go?
How do you spend the time you have
that has not already been allocated
to doing things like chores, commitments,
family, shopping, or work?
If you have the opportunity to
do what you want what do you choose?
Something that will make time go by fast,
or something that will make time go slow?
People who have an incredibly busy
and frenetic work day may choose
to spend their time off resting their feet,
switching off their mind,
while listening to music, while reading books,
while playing games, or while watching
films or something on TV,
as they engage in escaping from reality.

People who spend their time in their professional life
perhaps wearing a uniform, or a shirt and tie
from the hours of 9 to 5,
might be among those inclined
to do things that take them out of their comfort zone
and push their senses and their instincts to the limit...
people who don't get to do any physical
activity
during their working week
might get up on a weekend morning
and immediately feel drawn to go
to the gym, to go for a bike ride,
or to go for a walk or a run
just so they can feel the exhilaration
of revitalising their body, their mind, and their spirit.

For some people, when they have time to spare,
they like to bond with their family
while doing something that love to share,
whether that is an indoor or an outdoor activity -
however just as long as they are within
close proximity to one another and having fun
that is all that matters and even if it is raining
they would rather be with who
they want to be with, where they want to be,
and doing what gives their life meaning...
for some people the moments
when they are not thinking about others
are few and far between,
and that is why they do not get
the chance to close their eyes
and think about what they
might want to do for themselves -
but even those people who work
all hours that God sends in order
to provide for their family
do find brief seconds and minutes
to make the most of the gift
of some "down time" which always
picks them back up again.

My Poem “Taken”

Over the years I have taken people
on a journey with me...
over the years I have literally held
the hand of people and guided them
to places and to things that are important to me...
over the years I have told people things
that only they would know about me...
over the years I have opened the mind
of people to what is impossible,
and I too have been fascinated
by what happens when there is
a coming together of many feelings,
emotions, colours, and expressions
of what makes a difference to the way
that people live, love, think, and believe.

Over the years I have always been someone
who goes that extra mile...
over the years I have always been someone
who would rather leave a lasting impression
in the form of a smile...
over the years I have always been someone
who would spend time doing something
that I knew in the long run would be worthwhile...
over the years I have always been someone
who knew that there was always more
to be known about the substance
of something or someone
rather than their style.

Over the years I have felt drawn
to things, to places, to people
from the moment that I have awoken...
over the years I have felt as if
I am only able to keep ahold
of some things for a short amount of time
before they are forsaken...
over the years I have felt found,
abondoned, made whole, and then broken...
over the years I have felt and I have seen
change happen right in front of me,
I have experienced the arrival
of hope and joy before my eyes,
I have made the most of every moment
that I have been given
and I always try to return the favour
of whatever or whomever I meet
wherever I find myself being taken.
