The more that we ask ourselves
what we believe
the more that we learn
about ourselves
and about who or what our god
is and represents…
The more that we ask others
what they believe
and what and who sustains them
and gives meaning to their life
the more that we realise
who and what is important to us…
The more that we ask questions
about life, about existence, about creation,
about where we are going and why
the more that we appreciate what we have,
what makes us happy, what gives us hope,
what to us is a daily cherished present…
The more that we open our mind and our heart
to the possibilities that we had not considered before
the closer that we will be to attaining
a revitalised spirit and a purpose
that will allow us to rise above
all our troubles and float
in a state of complete and beautiful contentment
like a delicate white lotus.

My Poem “Poetropolis”
A city is like an ocean…
From high above a city looks so calm,
so beautiful, so shiny, so peaceful –
no matter if it is seen at night or during the day…
From far away a city shows a version of itself
that is but one of a multitude of masks that it wears
to entice visitors to it –
however, it isn’t until you
descend deeper into any city
and you are walk it’s streets,
which are in essence the veins and the arteries
of this ever talking, ever changing,
ever evolving man-made organism,
that you begin to see the side of a city
that can only be witnessed the more that you look,
the more that you listen,
and the more that you take in
that which makes every city
the dichotomy of light and dark that it is
of the visible and the invisible,
of the advertised and the disguised –
but there is always something about every city
that makes it stand out as a place
that people need to visit,
whose treasures to be found within cannot missed…
Every city, like an ocean, is made up of
those who inhabit it
and those who populate it,
and the more that you get to know
a city’s many intricately complex people
who are woven into the fabric
of a city’s multicoloured
and multifaceted tapestry
the more that you will see
the varying loose threads
and the stitches that when sewen together
make for an inspiring metropolis of poetry.

My Poem “A December to Remember”
It isn’t December
until there is a flurry of snow…
It isn’t December
unless the temperature outside
is below zero…
It isn’t December
until Christmas songs
are playing on the radio…
It isn’t December
until you look around
and you see sparkling lights
and colourful decorations wherever you go.
December is a month filled
with both joy and sadness…
December is a month when we think
of those who we have lost
and who we still miss…
December is like living within a bauble
hanging upon the limb of a giant Christmas tree…
December has always been a time
that has meant something profound to me.
I love the traditions of buying a real Christmas tree,
bringing it home, and then as a family decorating it…
I love December because it is when people
have a excuse to think about others and give…
I love what the true meaning of Christmas represents
and why it is important to keep close to your heart
the things and the people who are like no other…
Every year it is my mission for everyone I know
to make the month of December
a December to remember.
My Poem “Dear Melissa…”
Dear Melissa,
you are my shining star…
Dear Melissa,
you just don’t know how
beautiful and amazing you are…
Dear Melissa,
you are my soulmate and the best thing
that has ever happened to me…
Dear Melissa, you are my life
and you mean the world to me…
Dear Melissa, you are a part of me
as I am a part of you…
Dear Melissa, you are my dream come true…
Dear Melissa, we are of one heart,
Of one mind, and of one spirit,
and there is nothing stronger
than our unbreakable bond…
Dear Melissa,
your gorgeous smile,
your sparkling eyes,
your infectious laugh,
your kind and selfless nature
is always a miracle to behold…
Dear Melissa,
there is nobody else
like you in the entire world…
Dear Melissa, I love you!

My Poem “Love the Love”
Love is free…
Love is the greatest gift
that you can give anybody…
Love should always come naturally…
Love is undefinable,
as is the feeling inside you
that someone special brings alive within you
when you think about them
and when you see them…
Love is the embodiment of divine intervention
and it is the most amazing power in the universe…
Love finds you when you need it the most…
Love can be a life saver…
Love can set your soul free…
Love is a bond that can never be severed…
Love is always what you are looking for
and when you find it you know with absolute certainty
that the one you love will always be enough
to make you happy – take it from me.
My Poem “Thankfulness”
Thankfulness… Thoughtfulness… Hopefulness…
At this time of the year
it is everybody’s wish
to usher in a sense of joyfulness
like the feeling of youthfulness
that a happy child
experiences on a daily basis
when they are growing up.
It is good to be thankful…
It is good to think, to help,
and to give back to others…
It is good to marvel at
and share a source of glee
that shines when the clouds above are dull,
and it is good for one and all
to gather together.
So much of life is forgotten…
So much of time is lost…
So much of this world is beautiful…
So many people have
experienced something in their life
that they believe to be a miracle –
and though it can be hard sometimes
to see the good through the bad,
to see optimism through a cloud
of pessimism and scepticism,
each and every one of us
is lucky to have what we have –
because each and every one of us has things
both big and small that make us happy
and for which we are eternally
grateful and thankful for.
My Poem “Peak Performance”
Performers perform what they know…
Performers perform differently depending
on where they are performing…
Performers performing to an audience
feed off of the feedback that they feel
echoing back at them like a wave…
Performers performing based upon
a well rehearsed performance
are participating in a dance…
Performers performing in the moment
are inspired by what
their audience gives to them…
Performers get better
the more that they perform…
Performers of every age and gender
always feel nervous before a performance
but over time they learn to use
what they feel in their stomach
and what they feel in their chest
as a source of fuel
to propel the explosion of artistry
that comes when they find their place,
their stage, their audience
and they can play to the limits of their gifts
with confidence and with a wish
to share their passion
and perform to the peak of their performance.
My Poem “Dusk”
The golden and blue hue of dusk
is the view that greets me
when I gaze out of my window
at the evening sky –
soon all will be dark
and the stars will shine
brightly on the horizon and above me…
Slowly the once blinding light of the sun
fades to an after glow in the West…
All is quiet, all is peaceful…
The streetlights start to illuminate one by one…
Slowly but surely night is falling upon us…
This truly is the time of magic…
The sky looks more beautiful
now than it does during the day…
There is a stillness and an enchantment
that feels like it is at play…
Day becomes night without so much as a fuss…
This time is one of the most powerful…
Words cannot describe this captivating
and this awe-inspiring time of dusk.

My Poem “Woodland”
You haven’t lived until you have been
up close to the flora and the fauna of a forest…
You have never breathed true fresh air
until you have walked through a paradise
of green parkland during the summer months…
You have never felt as blessed as me
until you have shared precious moments
with the one you love in peaceful solitude –
watching hummingbirds feed during the daylight,
or witnessing the lightning bugs
illuminate the darkness as they dance
through the air under the stars of night…
The face of nature is breathtaking…
I have seen sights beyond imagining…
As I have lived I have experienced things
that are like a time-capsule
which I can use to slow the passage of time,
to halt the march of the second hand of my life’s clock,
and to return me to the places above, below, and far-away:
among the clouds… underground… sitting on a wooden porch,
walking over a river with the love of my life, Melissa…
There were times when I was younger
when I regularly used to go out on my own
and be in a state of complete and utter awe
as walked amongst the amazing tall trees
of a thriving, lush, and inspiring woodland.
My Poem “Jazz”
Music is in all of our blood…
Sometimes our blood runs fast
and sometimes our blood runs slow…
Music can sometimes be misunderstood…
What we listen to, where, when, and how
always informs and influences our thoughts
and our emotions, sometimes more than we know…
A piece of music can create a mood…
A song can be a powerful artistic muse…
A particular instrument has a distinctive magic…
A synonymous voice can bring about
a wave of peace to a world of panic…
All music is a part of the collective human soul…
Not all styles of music appeal to every human heart,
but everybody has experienced moments in their life
when music has spoken to them like nothing else before…
Music can be a cure…
Music can teach a two left-footed person how to dance…
Music can transform someone beyond the limits of words…
Music will never die,
and one of the most rambunctious accents of music
undeniably has to be the swing, the vibe,
the energy, and the favourite music
of cafes and bars from L.A. to New Orleans: Jazz.
