My Poem “The Environment of Nature”

There is no greater aroma than
what you inhale when you
walk through a forest of trees...
there is no more heavenly experience
than witnessing and being caught in
the energy stream of the morning sunlight at dawn...
there is no place like being on a beach
while looking out to the horizon
as the sun sets below the waves...
there is no more invigorating sound
than the chorus of bird song
that heralds both the beginning
and the end of every day...
there is no more awe-inspiring sight
than seeing planet Earth glow like a pearl
as it spins against the darkness of space...
there is no more humbling experience
than looking down at all the life
and the light that thrives and shines below
as our world silently turns on its axis
and is orbited by its own celestial offspring, The Moon...
there is no more ethereal wonder
to witness than the beautiful rippling energy strands
of the auroras of both the Northern and Southern hemispheres
created when the sun physically reaches out
touches the thin translucent veil
of our world's atmosphere...
there is no more perfect moment
than looking up at the stars from the ground,
seeing the constellations,
seeing other planets within our solar system,
and realizing that everything and everyone
in the universe is connected...
there is so much more to life
on Earth and in the cosmos
that we have yet to discover...
there is so much more to a place
and a time than can ever be captured
or ever truly imagined...
there is so much more that humanity
can achieve together if only they
were able to put aside their differences
and talk to each other...
there is so much to be found
when you start wandering and wondering
about the greatest gift in existence:
the magical oasis of life that is
the environment of nature.

Happy National Poetry Day!

In this episode Mark celebrates National Poetry Day by giving some insights into where his journey as a writer and poet began and he also names who it was who first inspired him to start writing poetry in the first place. Mark recites his first poem “Blessed” and his most recent poem “The Environment of Nature”. And talks about his life as a writer, how he has been influenced by everything and by every one he has ever met – including the muses that he has had and loved throughout his time as a poet. My Poem “Visionary” – Happy National Poetry Day!

No matter what you see,

no matter how you feel,

no matter what you hear,

no matter what is going on

in the world around you,

no matter if the sky above

is cloudy instead of blue,

as long as you have within you

a vision and a view that you can

look to

every time you need to

to give your thoughts, your feelings,

and your emotions a boost –

whether what you look to is a place

like a beach or a city,

or whether who you look to a person

like someone who you love and who loves you:

that vision of hope, that may be a memory

from recently or from long ago,

that always has a power to enthrall,

to inspire, and to rejuvenate you

is the poetry of your mind and your soul

that has been brought into being

over the course of your life –

like a dream fueled by who and what

you imagine night after night –

which gives the gift of a voice

to everybody on Earth –

both old and young –

who have a story to be told

and a song to be heard

that continues, connects,

and contributes to epic experiment

of life and the poetic experience

that is the world within our universe.

Happy National Poetry Day! 😊

My Poem “Mr. Write”

I write early in the morning,
I write late at night…
I write when the rain is pouring,
I write when the sun shines bright…
I write what I feel,
I write what I believe,
I write what is real,
I write what I see…
I write from my own perspective,
I write from my own experience,
I write with my own voice, and when
I write that makes all the difference…
I write about my thoughts,
I write about my dreams,
I write about all sorts,
I write about what inspires me…
I write because I must…
I write because I cherish the gifts of life…
I write because to me inspiration is like star-dust…
I write because I would not be me if I did not write.

Happy National Poetry Day!
