My Poem ‘Fallen Friend’

A fallen friend, a fallen star,
a friendship that will never end,
a familiar face to be remembered
always as if they were still by your side
as well as always in your heart.

We meet so many people in our lives,
but the special ones we remember forever;
we make so many friends,
but there are only a small group
to whom our fate and their fate
will always be tied together.

It’s hard to say goodbye to a friend –
especially when their spirit
can still be felt, heard,
and seen where we always remember them being;
it means everything to never forget someone,
and it is comforting to always believe
that one day you will see them again;
it’s hard to put into words
what someone truly means to us
and what about them we always found amazing;
it always hurts to think that a friend of yours
had to endure a time in their life
that caused them such pain.

To recall a shared memory,
to say a silent prayer,
to light a candle,
to say goodbye,
to never forget,
to believe that they who we have lost
we be looking over us
as long we continue to remember them.
Earth angels and heroes never die,
nor do great fighters who keep fighting
until the bitter end…
so, to all the dearly departed,
this poem is for you,
this poem is for all of our
indomitable and special
never to be forgotten
fallen friends.

My Poem ‘Luna Fortuna’

The moon this morning is shimmering and golden,
the moon this morning is low in the sky
and almost touching the horizon;
the moon this morning was unlike anything I had ever seen,
the moon this morning was larger than I had ever seen it before,
and was the size of a planet –
as if I had woken up and the Earth now had its own
sandy-coloured and glistening twin.

The moon this morning took my breath away;
the moon this morning instantly inspired me in so many ways;
the moon this morning was an omen;
the moon this morning was gifting me a sign of the future,
a manifestation of luck, and to me every time I think about it
I am convinced that it was telling me my fortune.

The moon this morning,
the glowing globe that shone briefly like a second sun,
was like something out of a dream;
the moon this morning that made my heart race and my imagination run,
I embraced every second that I saw it,
on this clear winter morning,
in the first week of the year, of 2015.

I could have stopped and stared at the moon this morning for hours,
even days, without my attention drifting;
however, its appearance, and its personification, in my life
left my sight in no time at all –
but not before I made a wish, and I received in return
and in reply an instant message and blessing:
I believe that the ancient and eternal goddess Fortuna
was present this morning in the form of the moon,
and I believe that the goddess of fate was looking down
on the world and on us all, to give us her favour and grace,
and her approval, and to make real our dreams,
and set us forth on the path of our destined and fated fortune.

My Poem ‘Elements’

Out in the elements,
wrapped up in a big coat
to keep out the cold of the wind;
outside, walking, experiencing a wave of deja vu,
as if doing something that you once dreamed;
the leaves fall all around you;
birds fly from tree to tree;
people off on an adventure race past you
in cars and on bikes;
as you make the most of every moment of freedom
that are so precious,
but you don’t realize how much
until they fade away,
as the light of the day begins to dim.

You can only, truly, speak with clarity
when describing, sharing, and reliving,
an experience that either just happened,
or when recalling the details and the emotions
of a memory that have become the paradise of your life and mind;
you can make things up as you go along,
but there is nothing better than to draw
from that which you already know,
from which you could never be blind.

Earth did not just flash into being in an instant;
the world did not become what it is over night;
even nature was once young and innocent, like an infant;
the beauty of the universe was something that was there
at the moment of creation, but it could not be seen,
felt, perceived, reflected upon,
until the rise, the evolution,
and the question of origins was asked,
by the first of infinite forms of intelligent life.

The smell of a newborn baby;
the aroma of a beautiful flower coming into bloom;
watching someone float in space free of gravity;
seeing the light of the sun at dawn;
glimpsing the light of a full-moon
through the window of a room;
the heart-pounding rush of jumping off a cliff
and flying instead of falling;
thinking about every new horizon and possibility
as an adventure, as well as a calling.

A gift, a present;
a lift; a season of significance;
an important time; a beautiful moment;
a peace of you never to be left behind;
a confluence of life, fate, destiny, karma,
thought, emotion, and reality,
and its connected and miraculous elements.
