Happy Birthday to “The Wolf In Me”

It’s been four years since my first novel “The Wolf In Me” was published! Wow! I can’t believe how time moves so fast! “The Wolf In Me” was my first book to feature my character Olivia Hunter, which I subsequently wrote a sequel to and got published via my great publisher Zeloo Media, in 2019 called “The Wolf In You”.

I consider both “The Wolf In Me” and “The Wolf In You” as Volume One and Volume Two in the extraordinary and supernatural story of Olivia Hunter and I still love and look back fondly on the journey of discovery that I took with the character of Olivia Hunter in both of those books.

My Poem “My Poetic Journey”

When I first began my journey
as a poet, as a writer, as an author,
I was a self-proclaimed
โ€œPoet of the Sphereโ€ โ€“
however, over the years, I would
definitely have to admit that
I have become quite โ€œThe Ramblerโ€
and I am so glad that I am!
I am so glad that the spark of creativity
and imagination that first arrived into my life
over a decade ago still continues
to guide me to places, to subjects,
and to sources of poetry that I have
written about and I have included in every one
of my fiction and non-fiction publications.

Over the last ten years
I have learned so much about myself,
about the world, and about the art of language
and the magic of words that I adoreโ€ฆ
over the last ten years I have seen things,
I have experienced things,
and I have written about things
that I could never have imagined beforeโ€ฆ
over the last ten years
I have met people who have influenced
the way that I conceive and understand
the world of poetry that we are constantly
surrounded by that never stops
molding and colouring our thoughtsโ€ฆ
over the last ten years
I have made mistakes, as everybody does โ€“
but I have also come to realise
that mistakes and missteps
need to be made in order for us all
to have epiphanies of wonder
that open up within our mind
like the petals of a flower
or like some kind of interdimensional door.

I have written hundreds of poemsโ€ฆ
I have written thousands of wordsโ€ฆ
I have had a million ideas
since I first started writing
while looking for answers
to the universeโ€™ most inspiring questionsโ€ฆ
I have had many unforgettable moments
since I first felt the poetry within my soul
cast itself upon a blank page for fear that
if I did not my heart would literally burst.

Every time I write something
it always feels like I am attempting to describe
a profound vision or a vivid dreamโ€ฆ
every time I have written a poem
or a story over the last ten years
to me it has always felt like
I were telling a story as well as
writing a chronology to capture
every moment of my poetic journey.

Happy Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ

My Poem “Visionary” – Happy National Poetry Day!

No matter what you see,

no matter how you feel,

no matter what you hear,

no matter what is going on

in the world around you,

no matter if the sky above

is cloudy instead of blue,

as long as you have within you

a vision and a view that you can

look to

every time you need to

to give your thoughts, your feelings,

and your emotions a boost –

whether what you look to is a place

like a beach or a city,

or whether who you look to a person

like someone who you love and who loves you:

that vision of hope, that may be a memory

from recently or from long ago,

that always has a power to enthrall,

to inspire, and to rejuvenate you

is the poetry of your mind and your soul

that has been brought into being

over the course of your life –

like a dream fueled by who and what

you imagine night after night –

which gives the gift of a voice

to everybody on Earth –

both old and young –

who have a story to be told

and a song to be heard

that continues, connects,

and contributes to epic experiment

of life and the poetic experience

that is the world within our universe.

Happy National Read A Book Day 2020!

Happy National Read A Book Day! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“– I know that not that many people seem to read books these days, like they used to; however, in times like now – when reality seems like a fantasy that we wish would come to an end and revert back to how things used to be – everybody needs some kind of escapism in order to remove themselves for a small amount of time each day so that they may feel hope, joy, and wonder once again. Books and stories are one of the greatest forms of entertainment and escapism, because to fully immerse yourself within a story, you, the reader, have to become a part of the story as the imagineer, the architect, and the artist who paints the picture of what somethimg or someone looks like with the power of your imagination by using the words on a page as a blueprint. As someone who is the author of ten books of both poetry and fiction I am most likely biased when I say that books hold a power within, especially when we hold a book in our hands, that is unparalleled to anything else. Being a writer is an incredibly empowering experience; and as a writer, knowing that people actually read what you write and like what you have written is phenomenonal and humbling and that feeling of creating a connection with someone is absolutely inspiring. ๐Ÿ™‚
