There is a repeating and a constantly resounding phenomenon... there is a moment of time that recurs every few years... there is a place where poet and inspiration can be found, where things only feel right and never wrong... there is a moment like right now when bells ring out, when angels sing - when not even the devil could illicit any kind of fear - when and where the beauty of the poetry of life reveals once again that there is a reason for everything... there is a season that returns - like the waves of an ocean that goes out and then comes back in... there is a state of mind, body, and spirit that never dies, which resides within each of us like a deep and unending well... there is something that happens which never changes, that always rises back to the surface to greet me, over and over, like a poetic rhyme, that has the power to compel me - and it is at those moments when I know without being told that the bells of time are ringing ten.

My Poem “Visionary” – Happy National Poetry Day!
No matter what you see,
no matter how you feel,
no matter what you hear,
no matter what is going on
in the world around you,
no matter if the sky above
is cloudy instead of blue,
as long as you have within you
a vision and a view that you can
look to
every time you need to
to give your thoughts, your feelings,
and your emotions a boost –
whether what you look to is a place
like a beach or a city,
or whether who you look to a person
like someone who you love and who loves you:
that vision of hope, that may be a memory
from recently or from long ago,
that always has a power to enthrall,
to inspire, and to rejuvenate you
is the poetry of your mind and your soul
that has been brought into being
over the course of your life –
like a dream fueled by who and what
you imagine night after night –
which gives the gift of a voice
to everybody on Earth –
both old and young –
who have a story to be told
and a song to be heard
that continues, connects,
and contributes to epic experiment
of life and the poetic experience
that is the world within our universe.
Happy National Poetry Day! 😊
My Poem “Inside/Outside”
Sitting in the sunlight…
reading in the shade…
enjoying for the first time
in a long time the feeling
of the breeze against my face…
outside of a library that I have not
set foot in for months,
because its doors have long since been shut –
as have the covers of its many books…
I am making the most of some moments
of quietude, of solitude –
akin to that of a performance’s interlude –
before I have to go back to the hustle
and the bustle of the life of a city…
I am also sitting besides a fountain
that I know well and I have been entranced
by on more than one occasion –
and as I listen to the sound,
and as I watch the dancing jets of water
jump into the air and then
cascade back down into the pool of water below,
I feel calm, I feel at peace,
I feel lucky to be where I am,
and I make sure to try and take in
every detail that I see of what is around me;
because I just know that I am going
recall this moment of time again
one day when I need it the most.
The wind blows and turns the pages
of the book upon my lap,
but I do not lose my place
within the story that has me entranced…
everybody who I see around me
is noticeably taking their time
and going at their own pace of life
upon their individual path
that occasionally intersects
with that of other people –
even though most of the impressions
made these days are not meant to last;
however, for someone like me –
someone who sees poetry,
someone who hears music,
and someone who feels meaning
within the image of a single falling leaf –
there is always inspiration to be found
within every instant of being outside,
even though at times we have to stay
seemingly isolated, like an island of one,
while our thoughts and our feelings
bubble away, just below the surface,
on the inside, within our mind.
